Saturday september 18 with Maishi Tigers ahead in series 2-1the final 8-ball team championship has reached his final day. After the playoffs it was the Maishi Tigers, winning from Straight Eight, and CUB Sharks ,winning from The Biesheuvel Friends that met in the final, the big showdown for the oh so wanted Championship. With sport press, pool fanatics and pool players present in a tensed and packed Granbeeuw Entertainment Center this edition of the final was a memorable one: First Edgar Eduarda wins the first game against Shark, Ingomar Bernabella. Maishi Tigers 1-0. CUB Sharks tied the game 1-1 with Luigi Martes winning from Tiger Eduard "Pipi" Balentien. Tico de Freitas against Marlon "Pempe" Pietersz the next game with a victory for the Tigers. Maishi TIger takes the lead again 2-1. Now the Sharks send Joaquin "Moreno" Virginie to the table to tied the game again 2-2. But Maishi came this day to win the title and once again they take the lead with Julian Rijna winning from Fernando "Feco" Bernabella. Now CUB Sharks feeling the pressure sends their best man on the table Bryan Landskind who did his job perfectly winning with two run out from Maishi captain Raymond Magdalena. Game tied again 3-3. It was now M.Wijman, CUB Shark that for the first time in the game lead his team to a advantage with a win against Tiger Curt Francisca in a game loaded with tension. CUB Shark 4-3. With two hot shots left and Maishi Tigers against the wall they send Javier "Porky" Augusta and CUB Sharks send Tamiro Mercera who could not stop Javier and he wins and tied the game at 4. With the game 4-4 all present in Granbeeuw would not even close their eyes during this match. The lucky or unlucky ones to play this match was Andy Senior for Maishi and Ingemar "Apple" Pietersz for the CUB Sharks. This was a thriller Andy takes the lead 1-0 and need one more to close the deal. Second game after a couple of nice shots and saves, Andy needed to shoot the 8-ball in the corner but has to cut this ball very very thin. With 40 seconds to make the shot he gets a warning when the clock reaches 30 seconds. at exactly 38 second Andy touched the cue ball...... and he makes the shot. Maishi Tigers 5-4, Maishi Tigers new 8-ball team Champion.
Game 1 September 11@Granbeeuw Entertainment Center CUB take the lead, 1-0. Saturday September 11, In a packed, tensed Granbeeuw Entertainment Center CUB Sharks wins his first game 5-4 against Maishi Tigers. With the game 4-3 for CUB Sharks it was old timer Feco Bernabella, CUB Sharks closer, that has finished the job against Maishi Tiger Curt Francisca in the last match.
Game 2 September 14@Hoi Bao Restaurant Maishi Tigers tied the series, 1-1. Maishi Tigers obviously very disappointed with the lost in the first game was very focus and they show what are they made of. With lots of pool fanatics in Hoi Bao Restaurant all the CUB Sharks players were no match this day for the Maishi Tigers. With the score secure at 4-0 the best match was yet to come. CUB Sharks sends their best ace player: Bryan Landskind and Maishi Tigers reply with one of their own best Andy Senior. With the best of 3 tied at 1, Andy Senior nearly blind with only the 8-ball to be potted he curve/jump the cue-ball and banked the 8-ball in the corner pocket. This was most definitely THE shot of the day. Maishi Tigers show no mercy and wins this edition of the final 5-0.
Game 3 September 16@Maishi Snack Maishi Tigers take the lead 2-1. Like we say in our native language, papiamentu: "Kos ta birando kayente" (things are getting hot). With the emotions on both side to win the title, Thursday September 16 at Maishi Snack, house of the Maishi Tigers, they take the lead 2-1 against the CUB Sharks winning the 3rd match 5-3 in the finals. With the trophies and the medals right in front of the players everybody was getting more excited to win this game. Knowing that the lead 2-1 in the best of 5 series will give the winners a psychological edge on their opponent in the other match(es) yet to come.
